Make It Better Series: Clotted Cream for British Cream Tea and Big News!

September 2024 was particularly joyous as I received the keys to our recently purchased 2500 sq. foot stand alone brick-and-mortar with half acre on September 9th and then on September 19th, I left for England for two weeks! England was planned, the building was unexpected after six plus years of searching and over a dozen properties falling through due to zoning, wetlands, location, $$…so many stories! The wonderful news is that we will be opening in North Royalton, Ohio in March 2025. England provided a wealth of inspiration, plus amazing country walks, unbeatable food, and surprise new friends. I have officially declared this myEnglish era, so expect to find English antiques and specialties in our new shop besides all the French classics.

While we are renovating this 50+ year old building, I hope you will enjoy this recipe for clotted cream. It is delicious on…everything! Truly. Pick up some local heavy whipping cream and place in baking dish in the oven overnight. Another day chilling in the fridge and you have two fabulous products: clotted cream and a sort of buttermilk. Store the clotted cream in the fridge and use this ‘buttermilk’ in recipes for pancakes, muffins, chocolate cake, or any recipe that calls for milk. Enjoy and see you in spring 2025!
